Tip Name: Cheap Heat on the Trail or at Home

A cheap way to warm up on the trail or at home is to fill a soda bottle with hot water. Throw it down in the bottom of your sleeping bag or into your bed for warm sleeping. Be sure to NOT use BOILING water. It will warp the bottle and then it will leak. I prefer to use the 2 litter size because it holds it heat well. If you can't take the contact of the hot bottle on your skin, cover the bottle with an old sock. The sock will be permanently stretched out, so don't use a nice one. We've used this when Ice caving in Alaska and it works great!!

Tip Name: Save your toothbrush!

Old toothbrushes work great when climbing to mark holds with chalk or clean off dust and debris for a better grip. Most chalk bags have a place where you can tote it right up the rock with you!

Tip Name: Warm Dry Feet

For high activity start/stop sports like skiing, spray your feet with an effective antiperspirant just before putting on your socks. This will eliminate the problem of damp feet that freeze up while riding the lift.
